Remember that the hoophouse seems to run about 10 degrees warmer than outside air after a sunny day? I’m hoping for sunny days, or cloudy nights. I am already running out of space under the plant lights, and it really is warmer than the broccoli, lettuce, and onions should have. So, out to the hoophouse they go. I am putting row cover over them at night, and hope that will be enough protection. They are cool weather crops.
I seeded peppers today. The hoophouse tomatoes have germinated nicely, but are stretching up to the fancy high-intensity light. I can put them up closer to the light, but that decreases the size of the area that the light hits. I am within the manufacturer recommendations, but the tomatoes are stretching and pointing up at the light.
I moved some cabbage plants that had barely germinated out to the hoophouse. I have a couple more flats that I repotted and am letting them grow more roots and hoping for a mild day and night to take them out. I don’t want to overstress them.
