The chickens are an integral part of our farm, though we only raise a few hundred each year. They are fed certified organic/non-GMO feed, and are “day-range”, getting to roam within protected areas during the day and secured in safe housing at night. None of our animals are fed “junk” food.
To keep humanely raised chicken prices somewhat reasonable, we are streamlining our marketing and carefully matching production to demand.
To do this we offer you a “Fill Your Freezer” share of ten (10) fresh whole (cleaned out and ready-to-cook) chickens For $200.
We give you a week or two notice on harvest dates. They are cleaned, ready to cook, packed in heavyweight heat-shrink bags. It is your responsibility to come get your chickens while they are fresh. They can take much less space in your freezer fresh than when frozen.
Chickens will average at least 4 lbs weight, usually averaging 4 1/4, but to keep the price down in the face of rising feed costs, I will try to come closer to the 4 lb weight. Contact me at info@rhomestead.com to reserve your chickens.
